Health and Safety
Be very careful if you’re considering using a take home teeth whitening kit. Some are often ineffective, very expensive and can have unwanted side-effects, such as damaging your teeth and aggravating gum disease. Always consult a dentist, or ask our aesthetician, with regard to the following points, before going ahead with teeth whitening.
Some take home trays require you to wear the device overnight, or for a sustained period, and if yours states this, think carefully. Prolonged exposure can cause itching and burning to soft gum tissue that may lead to gum disease.
Many clients come to us having already tried expensive home trays . They complain that they could not finish the prescribed two-week process due to the pain involved.
Bright White Smiles Home Kits & Teeth Whitening pens have none of the above issues, since they’ve been carefully designed as a convenient top up treatment to compliment our ‘in clinic’ treatment. These are very useful if you frequently enjoy red wine or coffee perhaps.
Unless you have exceptionally sensitive teeth the treatment is completely painless, however, if you do happen to experience mild sensitivity during or after the treatment, this is a short term effect which usually disappears within a few hours. Most people experience no sensitivity whatsoever.
Our gel is proven to be good for your teeth, and when combined with the special whitening accelerator, kills over 500 of the 600 harmful bacteria in your mouth, helping you to avoid gum disease.. The gel is tailored to the pH level of natural saliva so as not to cause any damage to the teeth or gums.
Before having your teeth whitened, always ask for the whitening gel’s pH level, as acid will corrode your teeth and gums. If your dentist or whitening technician is unable to answer this question, perhaps consider going elsewhere.
Our gels are tailored to the pH level of saliva, so as not to cause any damage to the teeth or gums.
Cool Blue Acceleration Lamp
The cool blue light of our Accelerator Lamp is filtered through optical fibres that completely eradicate all Ultra-Violet (UV) and Infra-Red (IR) light. It is classified as a Class 1 medical device, and has been granted CE, FDA and ISO9001 certification making it one of the safest devices currently available.
Other lamps, such as heat lamps (as used with Zoom type treatments) contain UV light and can cause sunburn to the lips and outer mouth. Preparation time is longer and can therefore be quite uncomfortable. The gums can also be burnt if they are not covered correctly, hence we do not use this type of lamp.
